Seeds of rebellion

I found the following article very interesting because it goes along with the theme of this blog -- you CAN raise Godly children without censorship. In fact, too much censorship in the home is detrimental to your goals. Children who lovingly discuss all things and view/read together with their parents are much better prepared for a lifetime of closeness and a relationship with the Lord. A relationship with God that last beyond your parenting years and one that truly seals the heart. Rebellion is born out of a sense of curiosity and a resulting forbidden response or extreme censorship. The child is not allowed to develop the imagination in paths that are harmless, harmless unless it is forcibly blocked by the parent. Then the seed of curiosity develops into longing for whatever has been forbidden.
We, as parents, need to remember the nature of temptation. It is Satan telling you all over again, “Did God really say that? That’s not true…..etc.” In this case extreme censorship allows your little one to hear the tempter’s voice saying, “That’s just what your mom says… You don’t believe that do you…. Just play along and you’ll get through it…..”  Don't be so fearful of your child having access to thoughts and ideas.

The following is quoted from the article: Exposing Major Blind Spots of Homeschoolers by Reb Bradley
“3. Emphasizing Outward Form --Preoccupation with results often leads to emphasis on outward form. outcome.” [http://www.joshharris.com/2011/09/homeschool_blindspots.php]
